End of Unemployment Benefit
In the course of 2026 about 172.000 persons will loose their unemployment benefit in Belgium. This is the result of a new policy introduced in 2025 by the federal government. Together with Dr.Marjolijn De Wilde I am studying the profile of the persons affected by the policy as well as their future path in the social security system. We have published a first policy brief on the topic and more will follow.
Absenteism at Work
On a typical dat 1 out of 8 workers is absent on the job in Belgium. Abssenteism for a short, middle or long time is a series issue, resulting from a combination of institutional, structural, cultural and personal factors. Together with the human resource company Securex I am trying the understand some of the drivers of this phenomenon.
High skilled migrants in Antwerp
Together with Jules De Feyter, former graduate student in my class on social and economic analysis at Antwerp University I am doing a qualitative study on the profile on high skilled immigrants in Antwerp.
